TREK UNVEILS 2011 SCRATCH AIR, REMEDY 9.9 AND FUEL EX

Posted by Caleb Smith on Friday July 16 2010

This year, the Scratch Air gets even more dialled with a true custom tune rebound setting on the VX Can RP23, a Fox 36 Talas fork and DT Swiss wheels.

Everyone is having press camps right now, everyone. Today though it’s Trek and they are in France right now riding the same tracks I’ll be on next week. Anyway, today they just rolled out the new 2011 Scratch Air. It looks a little more trail orientated than its freeride siblings with two rings and a Joplin 4 out back. Like a few other bikes out at the moment it has a flippable chip or “Mino” to alter angles. Trek also released an updated Remedy 9.9. that’s—you guessed it—lighter, faster, and stiffer than the 2010 bike. As well as a new Fuel EX. There’s more info and photos after the jump.Right Scratch first.

Scratch Air gets a chain retention device and a 2-ring setup for true versatility as well as a Joplin 4.

Similar to the downtube guard, the chainstay protection is removable and replaceable.

Flip the Mino to really dial in your geometry.

The one-piece EVO Link is our original Rocker Link design.

The integrated downtube guard addresses concerns of downtube damage. This guard is also available as an aftermarket piece, and can fit all aluminum Remedy bikes from 2008-2011, as well as all Scratch models.

And the New Remedy 9.9

The Remedy 9.9 features some distinct new technological progressions that make it lighter, faster, and stiffer than the 2010 bike.

Just like the Fuel EX, the Remedy progresses to a convertible system of ABP Convert. Every Remedy will come stock with a 142x12mm thru-axle, but using the included hardware, can be converted for use with a 135x5mm rear wheel.

The 2011 Remedy advances to an OCLV seatstay to drop 100 grams of weight and improve stiffness dramatically.

The Remedy 9.9 comes stock with a 26/39 XX 2x10 setup. A 36-tooth out back assures you can climb anything that a goat can.

And because it’s late one photo of the Fuel EX…

The 2011 Fuel EX retains a similar design aesthetic to the past year's model, but there are many improvements underneath -- one of those being an all-OCLV chainstay that reduces weight by 100 grams. The addition of this stay gives the Fuel EX an all carbon platform. Total weight -- 22lbs. out of the box without pedals.

Make it two… this one will help a bunch of people out there with RP23 (and there’s a lot of you!)

We worked with Fox to create a clearer decal design on the Fox RP23 with DRCV to show users exactly how to use the Pro Pedal feature -- something that many riders have pondered. Always remember it as, point the lever to the crankset for pedalling efficiency, then away from the crankset for fully open.
