BC BIKE RACE 2013 VIDEO WRAP UP

Posted by Caleb Smith on Thursday July 18 2013

Another resounding success for year seven. Participants from 26 countries all over the globe whooped and hollered through the sunshine and singletrack of this year’s BC Bike Race.

Smiles were the mainstay of the week. While the hot sun attempted to wear down the riders, nothing could stop the high flow of energy that filled the trails and base camps.

Finishing in Whistler after seven days of delirious singletrack and repeated enduro segments highlighting the flow that BC is known for, veteran racers pumped high fives and simultaneously cried.

Registration got off at an unprecedented rate, already at 75%. After the initial opening for registration at noon on July 7, the inbound server crashed due to the high volume of demand. Once back up, the server processed 170 registrants in 60 seconds. Within another hour old records had fallen and 415 of a possible 550 spots were sold.DS_BCBR13_1_102

The BC Bike Race tops the bucket list for mountain bikers around the world, maintaining the highest standards for courses, food, safety and fun over seven days as nearly 1000 people (staff, participants and support) travel through the six lower mainland communities of Cumberland, Campbell River, Powell River, Sechelt, Squamish and Whistler.

Next year’s event already has 24 countries represented and fewer than 150 spots remaining, and there’s still a chance to break 2012’s record of 33 countries represented.
