ST JOHNS FUNDRAISING SUCCESSFUL

Posted by petemcgnarly on Monday May 12 2014

Last November QMTBC member Danielle Ingle broke her leg while biking in Queenstown Bike Park and had to be carried down the hill by six fellow riders to an awaiting ambulance. She realised that St John needed a way to access injured riders so decided to organise an all-terrain stretcher for the local branch. They cost $4000 so this daunting amount was set in motion last Saturday with a shuttle day on Wynyard Express provided by Queenstown Bike Taxis, which raised $600. The next plan was a quiz night at Lone Star restaurant, which was well patronised by the bike fraternity and included plenty of prizes from local businesses for the quiz and a raffle. Lone Star donated proceeds from the bar and a total of $2100 was raised. The shortfall was then split between the QMTBC and Skyline Gondola so in one weekend the total has been met. Thanks to Danni and all participants in an awesome display of GSD [that's getting sh*t done]. Let’s hope it doesn’t get a lot of use though.
