Smoke, Strobes and something Special

It’s been three weeks since we stood in a pitch black room in Auckland, where the strobe lights flashed to the thump of music and we got our first silhouetted glance of the shapely bike hidden in the darkness. Then black out again, but as the music tempo increased a second strobe blast hit us and this time with our eyes better accustomed the form of the new Specialised Enduro was visible there in front of us, within touching distance. Since the hype of that day we’ve been living in secrecy, the problem with getting a sneak peak at Specialized’s latest creation before the global launch is that we had to sign the official secrets act and hand over our phones in a CIA style espionage cover up operation.

Now three long weeks later we can show you this - The all new Enduro...

So whats new I hear you ask? Well the Enduro gets the updated X-wing design, more travel, slacker angles, lower BB heights and two frame specs built from the ground up to suit that frame's specific wheel size. Yes the new Enduro is available in two sizes 650B and a 29/6 Fattie option (29er frame with choice of either 275 plus wheels or standard 29).

Travel wise the Enduro 650B has been beefed up to 170mm front & rear and the bigger platform has a 160mm front and 165mm rear. Specialized have been working closely with Swedish suspension powerhouse Ohlins to develop the new STX22 rear shock for the high end Enduro models and the big wheel platform also gets paired with the new Ohlins RXF 36 fork. (650B stays with Rockshox).
