440 MTB Park is set to re-open for the 14/15 summer season this Saturday 11th October. This season the boys have tweaked the way their shuttle system works; for the new season you can now pay by the run or get concession cards for six or ten runs. Simply turn up, buy a card at the revamped base building, jump on the bus and you’re away.

As well as a new shuttle pass system there are some new trails to enjoy and the old faves have had a post-winter tidy up and tweak.

Flow smoother than Biggie Smalls.

Yesterday we took a run down Low Pressure, a new ‘green’ trail. Loads of berms and super flow will make this a favourite from day 1.

Bro do you even berm?

The other new addition is Ruapehu, a rough and ready downhill track which will host a few downhill races over the summer, the first being Auckland DH Champs, 30th November.

Trails for every level of rider.

We also ventured to the top of the park to check out the first stage to be used for the 440 Enduro races starting in November. This stage takes in the entire height of the park and includes loose loamy flat and off camber at the top, some steeps in the middle, super fun ‘bus stops’, a few doubles to keep you stoked, and of course a bit of climbing and pedalling.  Think 2005 downhill track style. Looks like a race time down here will be 7-8 minutes so bring your fitness!

440 doesn't discriminate, even 29ers are welcome.

With the new trails added, 440 cements itself at the top of the heap when it comes to trail variety and all-round gravity fed goodness.
