Davey from Atlas Beer Cafe has been an amazing supporter of Queenstown Mountain Bike Club for a few years now but this year their fundraising total has surpassed previous totals. For the month of October $1 for every pint sold is donated to the Wynyard fund and this came to an amazing $6794.50 and then in November focus shifts to the Season of Shred party which signals the start of summer fun. Bar Manager Amy added a new event to the opening party with a ramp set up to jump into the lake off Steamer Wharf which is right next to the bar. A good crowd was gathered to witness the antics and riders kept them entertained for an hour. After Emmerson Wilken, Conor MacFarlane and Nick Dethridge all did double backflips, Nick was eventually awarded winner with a clean flip-whip. Jono from Queenstown Bike Taxis then did his first ever jump on a ramp in his undies, much to the crowd’s delight and downhiller Harriet ‘Bob’ Latchem was a crowd favourite with a sweet backflip.

Funds were raised on the night through raffle tickets with a large prize pool and multiple draws with this year’s main prizes being a $1000 voucher from H & J’s Outdoor World, won by Ryan Roach, and two full day trips with Queenstown Bike Taxis valued at $600 each won by Will Kemp and Ryan Roach (again). The evening raised $5360 and is to be allocated to new trails on Fernhill Loop, for which the club has recently taken over the management rights from Queenstown Council.
