Here I was watching the live feed updates on my phone last night hoping for a flat or just something to ensure that Aussie powerhouse Jared Graves would slip outside the top 23 and hand the overall to Damien Oton or better yet Justin Leov! But it wasn’t to be, after riding “conservatively”, “stopping dead” and just “taking it easy”, Jared pulled off a damn respectable 2nd on what looked like a gnarly course. Maybe it’s the Kiwi vs Aussie rivalry in me but I’m not apologetic in my wanting someone else to win, and having Fabien Barel steal all of Jared’s limelight with a crazy comeback from two broken vertebrae sustained in Chilé in the first round was my silver lining in the weekend’s racing; well that and Justin coming third overall, that was pretty darn choice! If Fabien, Jerome, Graves and Leov are all back fit next year we should have one epic EWS on our hands, plus we can all spectate at the first round next year at RotoWorx™. As far as the ladies’ side of things go, Tracy Moseley backing up her overall title was pretty cool and it was a nice touch to see Anne-Caro take the Finale win. Rosara and Gabby didn’t do too badly either, finishing sixth and twelfth respectively after the weekend’s racing, and Rosara nailing her favourite position of seventh in the overall standings (only competing in six of seven rounds) and Gabby securing fifteenth (with only four rounds under her belt).
Anyway, enough ranting from me. Here’s the two recap videos and some results to mull over.
