So I’ve been after a pair of Cyan Blue shorts for a while now, ever since DaKine first started making them a few years back. Well it seems a few more people are up with the play now and most recently would be UK brand Altura. More well known for making commuting and roadie clothes, the new Summit baggy short and Attack jersey show that they know what they are doing. What’s more, they’re now available here at Bike Barn and Rocket Bikes stores. The shorts only arrived just before Christmas so they haven’t had a whole lot of trail time but so far they are the business. The cut is perfect, with a nice high crotch that doesn’t catch on the seat, the weight of the fabric is just right too, not too light and not too heavy, and there’s a few vents as well with a nice contrasting fluoro green mesh underneath. Plus they feature a well thought out cinch strap setup that holds perfectly, and I’ve run the supplied liner a few times, and even unwashed (brand new) it’s super comfy. Now I just have to see how they hold up over the next few months. The shorts will retail for $219.99 and are also available in black.
You can’t get too fancy with a top and the Attack is pretty basic, but sizing wise it’s not quite as good a match as the shorts and the XL was a bit too small for me and my huge guns. The Attack retails for $119.99, and in any colour as long as it’s black.
We’ll be dropping full reviews of these two garments in issue 51 of Spoke.
