Cardrona will be open to the public in the upcoming New Year’s holiday period, offering guests access to a variety of alpine mountain biking trails.
The ‘Cardrona Bike Park’ will open for 10 days in total, from Dec 27th – 31st and from January 3rd – 7th. The Whitestar Chairlift will operate daily from 10am-4pm offering lift accessed trails for Downhill mountain biking enthusiasts. Trails will also be offered for Cross Country and Recreational trail riders to explore which will not require lift access.
As per standard operation in winter, guests will need to purchase a lift pass to use the Whitestar Chairlift. A Day Lift Pass will be available for Adults: $40 and Children (17 years and under): $30. For trail riders who do not wish to use the Whitestar Chairlift, a Field Access Pass of $10 will be required. These passes will only be available to purchase from the on-mountain guest services building.
Cardrona Alpine Resort has been working very closely with Bike Wanaka in constructing trails and planning upcoming events. Volunteers from Bike Wanaka have helped the Cardrona team build trails for the first event in the bike park: the Downhill Southern Series (DHSS). The event was scheduled for November 22nd however recent snowfalls have caused it to be postponed. The Cardrona Bike Park will also host the 2015 MTBNZ National Series on the 10th and 11th of January, which includes Cross Country and Downhill events. The Cardrona Bike Park will not only provide an alternative summer activity for locals and tourists, but also an ideal training facility for National Mountain Biking Series competitors.
The new offering from Cardrona Alpine Resort will also include on-mountain accommodation and food/beverage options for guests to enjoy over the summer opening period.

Because they didn’t mind your bad spelling.
Looking forward to not having to drive over the hill to get lift serviced riding and the sweet alpine single track that’s being created. Good work Jamie and crew.
