So I've been waiting for this a while, in fact I'd guess most people that follow this blog have. The RockShox Reverb adjustable height seatpost is here. Well not just yet; we have one, but you will have to wait till late October for them to reach the stores and you'll be happy to know that they will only be $491! The new Reverb features 125mm of adjustment and the one we have is 420mm in length (10mm longer than a Thomson!). The Reverb also sports a three-key guide to reduce slop (A Joplin 4 only has two) and a hydro actuation system. It weighs in at 515grams with remote, oh and it comes in 30.9mm and 31.6mm (a big finger to skinny tubed bikes!).
I guess you are asking why should I put my not-so-old-adjustable-height-post on Trade Me so soon? Well there are few reasons. First up is the bolting system, which if you've ever owned a Thomson post you'll know just how bombproof the two bolts are, and if you've owned a Joplin, you'll know how frustrating it is when the thing slips. On top of that the Reverb is infinitely adjustable, just like a Joplin but it locks in the place you set it, so when you pick your bike up the post doesn't fly up! And the final clincher would have to be that its return speed can be adjusted via a barrel adjuster on the X-Loc style hydraulic remote. Oh and did I say that the X-Loc can be matched to any SRAM shifters or XO and XX brakes?
All Reverbs will come with an X-Loc style remote, bar mount and bleed kit.
