Day 2 of Crankworx Rotorua was set to be a busy day, one that would test riders’ stamina and time-keeping abilities. Two events were set to headline the day with the Mons Royale Speed and Style early in the afternoon and the Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by RockShox in the evening. Now for us this might not sound busy, but some riders also had to juggle slopestyle practice, EWS practices and some even downhill seeding.
For the better part of the day Mother Nature played nicely, letting the events proceed with just a few patches of showers. The Mons Royale Speed and Style race went ahead without a hitch but sadly the Pump Track Challenge has been postponed until tomorrow (Friday) evening after the Downhill.
Conor Macfarlane was looking stylish all day throwing massive backflip variations on most features from the gun. Conor made it through to the knockout quarter finals round.
Martin Soderstrom led the pack all day, showing the others just how fast some of the corners could be taken, what massive tricks could be pulled and, most importantly, that he was back on top form.
Results:
1. Martin Soderstrom (SWE)
2. Adrien Loron (FRA)
3. Bernard Kerr (GBR)
4. Tomas Lemoine (FRA)
