Laurence Mote at Ground Effect just sent me though some pretty interesting info about a possible new track to be built along the Paparoas, linking Sewell Peak Road (above Taylorville) to the top of Croesus Track.
The Croesus is easily one of New Zealand’s best backcountry rides and with the addition of this new section of trail you’d be looking at around 26km of epic backcountry singletrack. We featured a few photos from the Croesus Track in Spoke 29 in the Mark Weir tour story “Weir on Earth”. And it’s even featured on the front page of the WTB international website.

If i had no friends… I would move to Rapahoe. Norcal is a cool place but way to many people. That’s Life. Friends make us who we are but they also keep us were we are at. In a perfect world I would move to NZ and never tell a soul. The best trail is the one that no one is on.

If they added the bonus trail to The Croesus, I would definitely come back to New Zealand. Not just to visit Blackball Salami Company either-there is great riding and great people, and of course Laurence Mote’s great imitation of an American accent.
