For months we knew that something was happening. The whispers became rumours and the rumours became scuttlebutt, but now it’s all fact. Scott have replaced the 26″ wheel size for their flagship Trail/All Mountain bike, the Genius. As we relayed last week, the Genius now comes in a 29er and the ‘new’ 650b (27.5″) wheel options.

But that’s not all. They didn’t just squeeze slightly bigger wheels into the 26 frame; they’ve totally designed the new bikes from the ground up. Gone is the proprietary Equalizer pull shock, replaced by DT Nude2 units similar to those seen on the Spark range. The carbon frames look great and if there’s a more stiff-looking BB out there we’re yet to see it. There’s internal cable routing, ISCG mounts, and interchangeable dropouts to allow you to run any of three rear axle systems. The 27.5er has 150mm of travel, like the old 26, and the 29er has 130mm. We could go on and on with all the features these bikes are sporting, but we’ll take the easy route and link to Scott’s Genius site and let you spend some time ogling and absorbing all the info.
