Meanwhile in France, there’s some bike related activity going on lately apparently. As well as a bunch of roadies riding around the countryside, Lapierre recently held their 2013 mountain bike launch in Morzine. The big story was the introduction of RockShox’s electronic terrain-sensing circuitry dubbed E.i Shock. What it does is senses the bump forces from the fork and sends the info to the rear shock so it can deal with it when the rear wheel hits the same bump the front just did. Ah, who am I to try and explain this, Jeremiah Boobar from RockShox does a way better job…
E.i Shock will be available as an option on three bikes, the XR29 (three models) the Zesty (five models) and the Spicy (two models).
The XR29 is a new XC platform, with big wheels and 100mm travel in a carbon framed package that looks like nothing out there, due to its unique shock mounting. Nico Vouilloz has been riding a pimped out version that comes in under 10kg! Spoke hopes to be getting our hands on one for a test very soon.
The Zesty remains their flagship bike, with new geometry and a lot of carbon love for the top models… Right, Serge?
