Brosnan and Ragot take SRAM X01 DH and RockShox BoXXer to the top step of the World Cup Downhill podium
SRAM X01 DH and RockShox BoXXer decorate the podium in Fort William, Scotland, at the third round of the UCI Downhill World Cup. On a course that has never seen a first time winner, Brosnan firmly staked his name forever in the history books as he took his first ever elite Men’s Downhill victory. Emmeline Ragot would take her first win of the season in the Women’s field.
After over a month hiatus the UCI World Cup Downhill returned to Fort William, Scotland, over the weekend. Widely known as the most formidable and menacing course on the world cup circuit, this iconic and infamous venue hosts some of the largest and most electric crowds of any stop all season long. A course hand built on the intimidating and captivating Nevis Range, situated deep in the Scottish highlands offers diverse and challenging terrain for the worlds best racers. This high paced, rock infested and typically wet course continuously creates a unique and highly intimidating challenge year after year. This year was indeed no exception.
Two-time Jr. World Downhill Champion, Troy Brosnan has been steadily climbing the ranks of the elite Men’s World Cup field since 2012. Brosnan has become a familiar and common face on the podium but had never stood upon the top step – until now. After a confident and commanding first place in qualifying he would confirm his speed in the finals, becoming the first ever rider to win his first World Cup at Fort William.
Having won in Fort William by staggering leads in past years, Sam Hill returned to a comfortable finish in second place just behind Bronsan. Danny Hart rounded out the top three with Aaron Gwin closely behind him in 4th. Putting RockShox BoXXer with Charger damper on the top three steps and SRAM X01 DH along side SRAM Guide and Avid brakes in first through forth of the elite Men’s field for the weekend.
Two time World Champion Emmeline Ragot took an impressive win in the women’s field, finishing eight seconds clear of second place. Smooth, fast and consistent is the key at Fort William, and Emmeline had all three components perfectly in place to bring together a World Cup win to remember. Ragot raced SRAM X01 DH drivetrain and Guide brakes, combined with the new RockShox 27.5″ BoXXer Charger to the top step of the podium. Myriam Nicole was second to Ragot after putting in a solid run on X01 DH and Avid XO Trail brakes.
