karate-monkey_sv_930x390New Zealand’s independent bike shops have a new go-to supplier for Surly Bikes. In a new distribution arrangement effective November 1, 2013, Surly Bikes will be distributed to the New Zealand market exclusively through Cycletech New Zealand Ltd of Paraparaumu.

Surly is well known for its well designed, well built, genre defining products, including the Krampus 29+ trail bike, Long Haul Trucker touring bike, and Pugsley and Moonlander fat bikes. Surly Bikes functions under the umbrella of Quality Bicycle Products of Bloomington, Minnesota, USA. Cycletech New Zealand has been a part of the New Zealand bicycle industry landscape for over 25 years and has helped shape the development of bicycling in this world-class bicycling destination.

According to Cycletech owner, Alastair Woodfield, “This is a really exciting time for Cycletech and cycling in New Zealand. We are on the cusp of a new era of cycling in this country. The NZ Cycle Trails program offers New Zealanders of all ages an adventure trail network to get out and explore New Zealand, and Surly brings a wide range of bikes to facilitate this exploration. Cycletech with Surly and our retail partners will have the bikes and accessories to help Kiwis make the most of their adventures.”

The move also gives New Zealand dealers complete access to the full Surly product line, and demonstrates QBP’s ongoing commitment to the IBD community in New Zealand.

“We believe the independent dealer is the backbone of the bike industry,” says John Fleck, Surly Sales Manager. “Cycletech has a long history and a solid reputation in the Kiwi bicycle market. We’re looking forward to working with Cycletech to bring value to independent shops and the Surly rider for years to come.”
