650-b-detail

SRAM distributor WH Worrall hit Welli yesterday to show dealers and hangers-on what’s new in their stable. Of course XX1 was the star, and we’ve covered that already here, but there is plenty of other new stuff from them to have a look at…

There’s no denying it, 650b/27.5 is very real and we think very cool. RockShox have a couple of forks for the mid-sizers, these Revelations come in 150mm Dual Air and 120 or 150mm Solo Air configs, 15mm Maxle Lite, 3 position DNA Motion Control, and under $1200. All RockShox forks will ship with a full seal kit too…

X0 Trail components come in this stylin’ polished finish. Rad Ross Schnell has been rocking the chrome X0 for a while, and now you can be just like him (with much less radness obviously, and you’ll have to pay for yours).

While you are fitting your polished brakes you may as well get some colour up in there… hydraulic hoses in the red white n blue.

Make sure you rock matching (or contrasting if you want to get real fancy) end caps… did anyone get a surprise with their bikkie?

The best dropper post gets better. Reverb Stealth is here and shipping right now, so start drilling your frame or get a new, compatible bike. $630 will get you one.

Truvativ’s Noir carbon low riser bar gets some real world witdh at 720mm.

The numbers to crunch… $275.

SRAM Rise 60 are rad looking, light carbon wheels. No 650b though in these, only in the alloy Rise 40.

Carbon

SRAM tried a collab with ESI a few years ago which never saw the light of day… now they are rocking their own grips. Nice and soft with an outer edge lock-on. 27 clams.

X0 single ring setup on their removable spider crank… you can run a double or triple if you prefer.

XX Pop Loc Monarch shock… where are all these remote levers gonna go? Could get confusing…”did I just lock out my shock, or drop my post?” $545.

We know you don’t really need to see it again, but here it is… XX1 is getting the rave reviews, and you can read about Seb’s extended time on it in Issue 49 in December. That cassette is a work of art, with a price tag to match ($650!) It’s by far the most expensive piece of the group, and the most important. The cranks will sell for between $435 and $495.

These teeth have a similar profile to Shane McGowan’s

Clutch this… the Cage Lock stops derailleur bounce and makes it easy to photograph it!

This is the DT Swiss XD driver… you’ll need this to convert your DT freehub to run XX1. Or buy some SRAM Rise 60 wheels.

Oh, we almost forgot this… the Elixer 5 is all-new in the Avid brake lineup, and features new material in the lever and caliper bodies, Matchmaker capability, and a new caliper profile to move it away from the rotor and negate the need for those little washer thingys. The angle of the hydraulic hose has been altered to give a more direct route from the caliper to your frame or fork. Nice price point brake at around $215 per end…
