TEVA LINKS SHOES Review – Issue #43

As a flat pedal rider, I’ve been using Five Ten shoes for almost ten years, and I thought this sacred bond was set for life. Until now.
Teva, in collaboration with legendary freerider Jeff Lenosky, has produced the company’s first flat pedal specific mountain bike shoe, the Links. It incorporates Teva’s Spider365 sticky rubber on the sole and some crossover technology fromtheir watersport shoes to create a mountain bike shoe that is resistant to absorbing water on a molecular level, using their ‘ion-mask’ technology. The Spider365 rubber is comparable to the grip of a semi-worn set of Five Ten shoes. In my opinion this is when Five Tens are at their best, as a lot of riders find them too grippy when new, not allowing easy subtle foot movements on the pedal. The Links however have this feel straight out of the box and like all good products, they get on with their job without you noticing, with no sign of foot slippage even through the roughest trail sections. They feel light on your feet and have a neat, aggressive sole pattern on the toe and heel to aid traction off the bike when walking up or down the trail.
Teva has definitely hit the nail on the head
