It’s on again. The longest running Enduro event in the World, New Zealand, North Island, Central North Island is on again on Sunday 4th May 2014, now in its 7th year!
Once again it will be downhillers against XC racers, but added into the mix this year will be newly invented racers called enduro racers to spice things up.
Tracks this year will be:
· K2 (now only grade 4 due to someone cutting the roots out at the start),
· Hot X Buns and into Bunny Jugs
· Tihi O Tawa and onto Billy T
· The new trail Kataore which will take us down to the finish at the Blue lake for a cold beer, hot chips and maybe a cold swim.
To keep up with the plethora of other enduro style races, we have added in an extra stage – that’s four stages for the price of three. Note that if it’s too wet we might have to rethink the use of Kataore as it’s a new track and in the wet it’s pretty slippery.
Entry is $30 and for this you’ll get two shuttle uplifts, hot chip sammies at the finish, a cold beer, loads of spot prizes and cash prizes for the winners (all entry money goes back into the race).
As in previous years, you’ll need to be a Rotorua Mountain Bike club member (as this race is put on by the club for club members), but it’s only $30 – a small price to pay for the smug look you can wear on your face knowing that you have contributed to the awesome Whakarewarewa trail network.
Entries out soon – keep a look out here and on the Rotorua Mountain Bike website.
Numbers limited to 54 (the amount that will fit into 2 Southstar shuttle buses) so get in quick!
A bargain just for the hot chip sammies
