If you ever wondered what Spinal Tap on trials bikes would look like, it’s something like this…

This is Drop and Roll is the brand new film from team riders Danny MacAskill, Ali Clarkson, Duncan Shaw, and Fabio Wibmer. Produced by Danny MacAskill and Duncan Shaw. Directed by Robbie Meade.

Despite various shows across Europe over the past two years, the production of the new film brought the team together for an extended period. The Young gun from Austria, Fabio Wibmer joined Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw, and Ali Clarkson at their Glasgow base to film in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
With just a few days to get the clip he needed at the start of the production, it was up to Fabio to get the ball rolling.

“When Danny, Duncan and Ali asked me to be part in the new Drop and Roll video I knew that there was something big in the making. When filming with these guys, there is definitely pressure to come up with some good and creative lines, but in the end I was pretty happy with the tricks I managed to pull. The whole project has definitely given me some inspiration for new videos and ideas.”

Fresh off the back of two successful clips shot in Barcelona and Cardiff at the beginning of the year, veteran Ali Clarkson was keen to pick up where he left off.

“To be able to take part in projects like this is a great opportunity for me. It was great fun dressing up and acting like an idiot with the guys and everyone managed to outdo themselves riding wise. I can’t wait to see people’s reactions to the video; it’s a little different from the norm. I hope we can do something like this again.”

For team manager and rider, Duncan Shaw, the video marked a massive challenge from both a riding and production perspective.

“This has definitely been the hardest yet most rewarding production I have ever been a part of and after talking about this for so long it is awesome to finally release it to the world. I have never produced or ridden in a project on this scale so it has definitely been a steep learning curve, but in the end it has definitely been worth it.“

After several years of producing solo content, having the opportunity to work on a project with a team of riders was a different ball game for Danny MacAskill.

“I am so flipping excited about this clip. It has been a long time coming and I managed to pull a couple of tricks, which have been on my mind for years. After performing live shows for years, we wanted to finally introduce Drop and Roll to the world with a bang so we knew we would have to think outside the box and come up with something different and I think we have just about managed that.”
