After a weekend off to recover from Nelsons Double Header the Top of the south Downhill series returned to Pukaka valley in Marlborough for its third round of the season.
After a practice day Saturday and more practice Sunday morning the track was in fine condition, With surfaces ranging from comfortably grippy to awkwardly slippery riders were kept on their toes and many riders were tempted by a brief dirt-nap on the way down the hill.
Racing was tight with podiums separated by single seconds and lots of fast juniors keeping the old hands on their toes.
It was pretty cool to see an under 11(!) class run and with a winning time of 4.59.39, about 10 seconds of the open womens podium the future is indeed very bright.

Fastest man on the day was Brady Stone with a 3.33.19 closely followed by Celyn Edwards 2 tenths of a second back. Fastest female was Emma Bateup who ran a 4.45.03.
The next race is the coming weekend on New Zealand’s longest downhill track Fringe Hill in Nelson. there is a practice day on Saturday and racing begins lunch time on Sunday.
