If you should find yourself stranded on Vancouver Island with Spoke writer and endurance freak Megan Dimozantos, chances are while you’re gathering berries and firewood, she’d be out lapping the island for hours on end while listening to this selection of tunes…
Florence and the Machine – Ceremonials
Something about her hauntingly beautiful voice against uplifting tunes that makes this one of my fave feelgood discs.
The Roots – Undun
Organic live hip hop at its best; every island should have it. Good for chilling out and/or dancing, depending on your mood.

Gossip – A Joyful Noise
Some bloody vibey rock and dance thingy going on here. Good for island parties.
Triple J Hottest 100 Volume 19
Not sure if you can get this in New Zealand, but considering you’re on a desert island, that’s probably irrelevant. Most compilations will have a little bit of everything for everyone; this one just seems to do it better than most others I’ve heard lately.
Flight of the Conchords – I Told You I Was Freaky
To be honest, I loathe this album, simply because every time it plays, you’re guaranteed to have someone who can’t hold a tune to save their life belting it out in falsetto at the top of their lungs, drowning out any semblance of the actual tune playing out of the speakers. Ironically, this is probably what makes it a great desert island disc, too.
