The first annual Wellington Trails Alliance (WTA) Diggers Summit is happening November 30th and December 1st in the Capital. The goal of the summit is to build on what is already one of the strongest trail building scenes in the country. The event will consist of two half-days starting with indoor sessions on the Friday afternoon followed by practical sessions out on the trails on Saturday.
Volunteers and land managers alike will have a chance to hear talks by a range of trail building luminaries including Jeff Carter, Simon Kennett and Ric Balfour. There will also be the ‘diggers’ ball’ on the Saturday night, a chance to socialise and swap stories over a pint.
“This is an event for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran trail builder or an interested first timer, everyone is welcome.” says Russel Garlick, Diggers Summit organiser, adding, “the goal is to bring everyone together and build on what we already have here in Wellington. We’re lucky with what we have but we think we can do even more.”
