Exciting news from Crankworx Rotorua’s sister festival in Innsbruck.

Rotorua’s Robin Goomes has just achieved a world’s first. She earns the distinction of becoming the first woman to land a backflip in Speed & Style competition.

This is what she had to say: “It feels pretty unreal. I didn’t know it was a world’s first, I just really wanted to do it.”

When asked about the massive progression that seems to be happening in the world of women’s freeride mountain biking, she said: “I definitely agree. Stoked to be a part of it.”

And on getting to compete among an international field of game-changing female riders: “It’s unreal. These chicks are real cool. I’m having heaps of fun.”

Goomes also won the Official Whip-Off World Championships presented by POC, which kicked off the festival on Wednesday.

Crankworx Innsbruck marks the first stop of the Crankworx World Tour in 2021. It will return to New Zealand November 1-7 of this year.
