Round 3: Val Di Sole
UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup 2023
Val Di Sole put on a show this weekend. Weather changes in the men’s final meant the riders had to navigate both dusty and slick sections, making a notoriously technical track all the more treacherous, resulting in some spectacular bails, crashes and saves across almost every event.
In both the juniors and the elites, Kiwi women showed Val di Sole how it’s done. Sacha Earnest continued her Crankworx winning streak with a P1 in finals, with Erice Van Leuven pushing hard into second after a fortnight spent recovering after a crash in Leogang. Jess Blewitt later snagged her first podium of the season, finishing in third behind Vali Höll and Camille Balanche.
