After the scramble to secure a coveted entry, the months of build up, and the travelling to get here, it was time for the frothing masses to tie on the number plates and hit the legendary trails of Wairoa Gorge for the first official day of the Dodzy Memorial Enduro. Warm and dry conditions made for dusty trails and sweaty humans, with the collective stoke factor through the roof if the slew of “awesome”s was anything to go by.
As well as scoping out the race runs and as many trails as you could ride before you either wore yourself out or the shuttles stopped running, the racers took on the seeding run to determine the start orders for tomorrow’s main event. A short blat down Happy Endings saw Justin Leov and Harriet Harper top the Elite categories, and a veritable smorgasbord of super quick guys and gals in the age groups will make for a great day of racing tomorrow.
