Diamonds!
Diamonds in the Rough – National tour – Women’s Mountain Bike Days

The inaugural Diamonds in the Rough tour is coming! For the first time ever, women have the chance to ride with and learn from the raddest female riders around the country. Rosara Joseph and Ash Burgess will tour around New Zealand stopping at six towns and spreading the love of riding. They’ll be joining forces with local women to conduct these ladies’ only riding days. Each day will start with a skills course, followed by an afternoon of shuttles and a group ride, and then finish with beers and snacks.

Whether you’re just starting out on the dirt or you’re already shredding, Diamonds in the Rough has your back. The skills courses will be split into small groups based on ability: intro to mountain bike, turns and berms, the rough stuff, and hops and drops. With a one to six instructor ratio, women will be sure to have a fun and positive experience.

The women will put their new skills into action with an afternoon group ride. Using local shuttle services, women will be driven to the top of the hill and then get to ride down their choice of sweet descents. The day will finish with snacks, beers, and giveaways from our great sponsors.

Rosara and Ash are the giggling instigators of this fun. Rosara divides her time between lawyering and racing bikes (yeah, she was in the Olympics). Ash is the co-founder of Revolve Cycling Club and currently runs MTB tours and skills courses in Wellington (yeah, she wasn’t in the Olympics). Local forces include Anka Martin, Scarlett Hagan, Harriet Harper, Anja McDonald, Jenna Makgill, Helena Parsons, Indri Clendon, Julia Stevens, Leigh Halkett, Lou Hunt, and Anna Harding-Shaw.

These women all have different motivations for riding: freedom, adventure, fastest time, big air, more cake. But at the end of the day they just love to ride their bikes. We can’t wait to see you on the trails!
