Fourforty Mountain Bike Park is a privately funded project that was started over two years ago by two individuals. On the 1st of March when the parks opens there will be seven trails to choose from, all with their own features and styles, from bike park style trails with deep berms and sender tabletops to gnarly, rocky traverse singletrack winding its way down the hill.
The park is one of the few places in New Zealand to offer shuttled access with such a large descent; at 440 metres as the name goes, the average descent time is 10 to 15 minutes depending on your choice of track. The total potential area of the property is over 1500 acres and the plan over the next five years is to develop this into New Zealand’s largest gravity specific mountain bike park. The close future of Fourforty is to operate a full bike service centre/retail shop as well as cafe, bar and food facilities.
