While there’s not much happening in the MTB world to post about, I thought I’d resurrect our Inside/Outside series, if only briefly and if only for my own amusement. Seb started this up a couple of years ago and then it kinda dropped off the radar. In it, we have industry insiders tell us about their favourite websites outside of the industry… so here’s a few of my own oft-visited sites and why I like ’em.
The Selvedge Yard http://selvedgeyard.com/
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon this gem, but I’m glad I did. It’s McQueen and Sheene and Hunt, it’s the Stones, Jimi and Zep, it’s HST and Kerouac, it’s leather clad bikers and bikini clad babes, it’s everything cool and cult from music, movies and popular culture from some of the best decades ever, namely the 70s and 60s (yep, I put the 70s first because I can actually remember stuff from then!).
Totally Gonzo http://totallygonzo.org/
There are plenty of sites dedicated to the late, great Hunter S Thompson, but this one seems to stay reasonably updated and has enough archived material to keep you busy for a few hours at a time… plenty of links to the Good Doctor’s essays and articles too. A good place to start if you’re a fan or Gonzo-curious.
The Sydney Morning Herald http://www.smh.com.au/
Still my favoured news source, even though I don’t live in Australia anymore… their coverage of world events is streets ahead of anything available here, and it’s a bit disappointing that there isn’t a comprehensive news site like this in NZ.
The Onion http://www.theonion.com/
If the real news is getting you down, head to The Onion for a satirical look at the goings on in the world. I don’t know how they do it, but even the worst tragedies can be made funny while still making you think about how fucked up this planet can be. The Today Now videos are priceless…
What The Fuck Should I Make For Dinner? http://www.whatthefuckshouldimakefordinner.com/
I love to cook good food, it’s just hard getting the time and motivation to do it sometimes. This site has a load of great recipes, whether you’re a fucking vegetarian or a fucking meat eater… it’s even got recipes for some fucking good drinks and cocktails.
