Shimano’s new Zee groupset showed up this morning and over the next few months we’ll be putting this price point/heavy hitting gravity groupset through its paces. The Zee group is an awesome example of trickle down technology at its finest; the 10 speed rear mech features Shadow Plus clutch technology found on Shimano’s newer high end offerings, and the brakes feature Shimano’s new Ice rotors and vented pads. Price wise it’s on point too. The above 36tooth Zee crankset with BB will run you NZ$249.
The new Zee hydraulic disc brake system includes shorty style levers and a powerful 4-piston brake caliper just like its big brother Saint. Brakes come fitted with proven Ice Technologies. The Zee brakes feature super stiff high-power 3-layer brake hose for a more consistent lever feel and a one-way bleed for easy and clean servicing. The brakes retail for NZ$299 (without rotors) per end.
The 10 speed short cage Zee derailleur features Shadow Plus technology and has a super low profile. It works with a DH small block rear cassette and has the ability to also run with a larger 36tooth freeride/all-mountain type setup. The derailleur and shifter retail for NZ$149 and NZ$69.95 respectively.
