That’s right folks, due to the unfortunate and sad incident at Pike River Mine we’re postponing the Red Bull Rock Drop. Message from organiser after the jump….

Hi all.
Thanks for waiting for the rider list to be announced.
We have held back because we needed to wait to make a further unfortunate announcement.

In view of the recent events at Pike River Coal Mine in Greymouth, Red Bull has decided as a gesture of respect to postpone Red Bull Rock Drop.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause with your plans to attend the event.
Please get in touch with me directly via email with any questions.
I’ll be doing my best to make sure Red Bull Rock Drop is a great experience for you, even if it’s a bit delayed.

Thanks again for your patience, and thanks for your applications.

On a positive note we had 140 plus applications to enter. The race team have had the tough job of reducing the list to 80 riders to compete on the day. If you don’t make the cut, hopefully there are no hard feelings and that you come and watch the race.
The decisions were made even more important by the fact we have to consider the safety of the riders on the course and the advanced level needed to ride it.

The rider list for the race will be emailed through to you all later today.

Thanks for your understanding.

Ivan

Details of new date etc to come soon.
