Spoke Issue 47 is on its way to subscribers now and naturally it’s chock-full of great stuff as well as a free copy of Nick Stevenson’s Trailnotes DVD which showcases Rotorua’s amazing mountain biking network.

It seems like almost every month there’s a different batch of pro riders coming to New Zealand from the other side of the world to sample our amazing riding. The guys from Easton USA headed down recently to launch some new product and while here we got to ride with the likes of Nico Vouilloz and Graeme Aggasiz, plus local superstars Sam Blenkinsop and Cam Cole. They ripped it up on the best trails and DH courses in the south, while the Coastal Crew filmed it all and Caleb snapped the stills for our feature story.

Teva put on a show of a different kind with the Slopestyle event in downtown Queenstown. Huge crowds went nuts for the insane skills of Kelly McGarry, Conor Macfarlane, Luke McCombie and import Sam Dueck. We’ve got the lowdown from the protagonists and the best photos of the action.

Even though we’re based in Wellington, that doesn’t cloud our belief that the capital is one of the best cities for mountain biking in the country. We asked seven locals to wax lyrical about their favourite trails and why although Welli is often windy, it never blows.

There’s a heap of other great stories and all the regulars, plus cool product, bike tests (we pit two Tallboys against each other!) and photos to make you drool. And as a special bonus, every copy of the mag comes with the awesome Trailnotes DVD! What are you waiting for? Read, then ride…

Spoke 47 will be on the streets June 21, and will be available online through Apple Newsstand and Zinio next week. Our digital versions also pack in a bit extra than the print edition; they feature a larger 10+ page gallery and extended feature stories too!

  1. That cover photo of Blenki is choice, it shows mtb at its best! smiling, sweet as Nelson beech forest, no full face or tricks, just riding a bike for fun in the trees..

    1. Richie, not that i’m biased or anything, but i’d have to agree with you… The moment I snapped the shutter iI knew it was going to be the cover… So stoked to get a rad trail shot of blenki. He’s one of the most talent riders i’ve ever shot with… Getting to go on a few XC missions with him was choice.
