The big announcements just keep coming for the Teva Slopestyle in 2013. After upping the ante with silver status accreditation, Teva is now pleased as punch to announce that they have some of the biggest names in slopestyle and freeride mountain biking heading down to huck their meat with the locals.
It’s now confirmed that the majority of the Teva International bike roster will wing their way into Queenstown to meet up with Kiwi team members Kelly McGarry and Conor MacFarlane for the second Teva Slopestyle event at the Ballarat Street car park on Thursday, March 28th.
The list reads like a potential top five of any Slopestyle event out there:
CAM McCAUL (USA): Living legend and 3rd place at Red Bull Joyride 2012.
KURT SORGE (USA): Made his place in mountain bike history this year by winning Red Bull Rampage 2012.
SAM PILGRIM (GBR): A huge five 1st place results in the 2012 season.
SAM DUECK (CAN): Hyper extended tricks and a crowd favourite from last year’s event.
BENNY PHILLIPS (AUS): Winner of lasts years’ event and on the comeback from a huge injury.
And here’s what the man himself, Kelly McGarry, has to say:
“The 2013 Teva Slopestyle in QT is shaping up good! We are beefing up the course, throwing some new elements in and looking forward to having some big guns from the Teva International team heading over for the comp. The crowd will be able to look forward to world class riding and some pretty wild stuff going down under lights on the night of the comp!”
With a $10,000 prize pool up for grabs, there is no doubt that the Kiwis are going to turn up to send it again and show the big dogs what they have in the bag.
Watch this space for details on the course design and further athlete announcements, as there will be more heavy hitters to come!
