So the results are in. After a flat tyre in 2008 and sitting out 2009 37 year old Mark Weir is back in 2010 for the win! Rad Ross Schnell pulled off second, 8 seconds back and last year’s winner Adam Craig was relegated to third. Not too sure what that means for the overall all mountain title but as soon as I find out I’ll let you know. Nathan Riddle followed up his top four finish at Ashland with fourth at Downieville and Jason Moeschler rounded out the top five. Duncan Riffle performed the best of the downhillers finishing in 6th while Greg Minnaar was just outside of the top ten in 11th, sometime Spoke contributor Dain Zaffke scored a respectable 27th. There’s a good XC gallery over on Singletrack.com. If you like the sound of the Downieville make sure you enter New Zealand’s premier all mountain event, The Coppermine Epic. Unfortunately there’s no break between the gruelling XC climb and the sweet DH descent though, however you can have a beer at the top of the climb.
